Akash Bhatt

He started studying classical Indian music and to play tabla as a child. Later he played rock music as drummer and vocalist. As a guest artist in an arts center (Darpana Academy of Performing Arts) he played with musicians and artists from several countries. He took part as performer, actor, musician in multimedia projects, plays and concerts. These experiences made him understand the diverse sounds of percussion instruments and influenced his style. In 2001 he won a scholarship of Soros Foundation and attended a course in Summer Academy of Performing Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. After finishing the course he moved to Belgrade (Republic of Serbia), and lived there for many years. He has been cooperating with different bands and musicians from Serbia involved in playing Serbian ethno and world music, pop- and electronic music and jazz fusion. He has been working with Sephardic music band ‘Shira U’tfila’ and Serbian ethno music band ‘Belo Platno’ in Serbia among others. He performed and recorded several songs and albums with other musicians and took part in a project of National Theatre of Belgrad. He played at EXIT festival in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He performs with DJs and jazz fusion projects both in Serbia and in other European countries.
